I brought my first small microwave with me in 1985 - gave it away when I moved into temporary accommodation where there was no room for a cooker and bought a large digital one. When that one packed up [got it fixed later and gave it away] I went straight out and bought another of the same make as the then temporarily deaded one.

As I say, I did get microwave #2 fixed [for about £20 IIRC] and I believe it is still working just fine, but I could not be without one. I mean how else am I supposed to blanch veggies chickchack to freeze for Pereg's meals? And they are brilliant for so many things, not just blanching and re-heating but actually cooking.

Fish, for example. I can take a white fish fillet or a Nile Perch steak out of the freezer, stick it in the microwave and in 1 minute for a fish fillet or 3 minutes for a fish steak they are done.

I tried the cake in a mug once....
Turned into a scalding mug of gloop with a solid crust on top

Very tempted to try the mac&cheese and the quiche now though!
We'll have to post piccies of any attempts

Don't have a microwave, but just looking at some of those pics makes me want to get one - they look delicious! Anything that is quick to make and easy to prepare suits me perfectly!
