Worried about loose Greyhound....

Hello,

My granpa has just come in from a meeting in the town, he walked there and back. On the way back he spotted a loose dog which he said was a Greyhound bitch, she had no collar on.

She came over to him, he let her sniff his hand, he then stroked her face, then she trotted off. He looked to see if anyone was coming behind her, there was nobody. The next he new she was whizzing by him and disappeared out of sight. He heard nobody call a dog and there was nobody else in sight.

There a couple of known wanderers around here, and this dog isn't one of them.

I'm really worried about her as Greyhounds can be sensitive souls and dog take to kindly to the cold, as most of you will know.

I'm annoyed that he didn't try and grab it's scruff and phoned me to come down and get it in the car! Would've taken me two minutes to get to where he was.

I phoned the dog warden but typically they only work 9-5. What good is that? There should be a dog warden available out of hours to contact.

Phoned the police station, who couldn't have been less helpful. I'm bloody annoyed now!

I do hope this dog is okay. Poor thing.

Unfortunately there's a lot of lurchers and greyhound types abandoned at the moment.. Or maybe it just seems that way around here... I blame the credit crunch. many I think are travellers dogs and they just can't afford the added expense.
