Stinky ears... Advice from others with floppy ears pleaseeee!

Hello haven't posted for a while!

After noticing my dog was smelling more 'doggy' than usual some Internet research made me give his ears a good sniff and sure enough his visually clean ears smelt really doggy! (Not infected tho) i bought some ear drops for about 3 pounds from pets at home....these seemed to bring some wax out which I tried to wipe but not very well.... At his booster appointment I mentioned his to the vet who actually may have been. Nurse... Who told me his ears looked really clear but gave me some £16 ear drops and told me to put in a large squirt and let him shake it out... Also to tie his ears up with a hair band every few evenings o let the air in

Anyway we still have stinky ears which ate often wiped along the carpet.....

Anyone with spaniel ears have any experience suggestions please????

Having show type cocker spaniels (long floppy ears) we do sometimes get the waxy smell, so use ThornIt, works every time for us, I also use it after grooming.

Yas, I too use Thornit powder in my dogs ears. Fantastic stuff and easy to obtain from pet shops or on-line.

You could try apple cider vinegar mixed with water to clean out the ears. That might help with the smell.

Thornit every time ......might seem expensive at first sight but you need so little it lasts for ages.....just get the little bottle.

After a couple of days you and your dog will notice a massive difference, ensure you also keep them moisture free....even wipes can be too moist for my bullies ears....

Thanks ill have a look online for the thornit-I'd never heard of it!

I started to wonder if our new groomer hadn't pulled out his ear fur like the old one used to it looks thicker? Don't know if I dare pull them out myself!

As others have said Thornit.

If there is an issue Surolan has been good for my Spaniels.

A wash with mild baby shampoo doesn't do any harm once in a while.
