Bank holiday 29th April

Well, isn't this just lovely?

Barry has had a letter from his company today stating that because all their customers and supplies are closed for the day, they have no choice but to do the same.

According to the contract of employment the company are under no obligation to pay anyone for the day off.

Therefore, Baz (and all the others) can either:

Take a day's unpaid leave
Take a day's holiday

I daren't repeat what Baz's response was.......

Don't know what to say Vicki, it doesn't seem fair, and we are being told that we all need to work harder to pay for all the countries debts, but when you want to officaldom intervenes and won't let you.

Would never happen in Germany

He will have his revenge....... he is always being asked to sign off the extras on jobs, and that's the task of the guy that's running the job. Barry is put upon and treated as if he were running jobs, but not paid accordingly.

So, no more extras will get signed off by Barry - how d'ya like them apples?

That's pretty rubbish - i'm surprised they don't have to pay them for that day.

The company I work for are staying open that day but we got given an extra day at Christmas instead which suited me but everyone else kicked off about it big time because we weren't given it as an extra day to take when we please. I'm just bloomin grateful they gave it at all!

It's just typical of companies these days, they put on those people that work so hard, and let the wasters get away with things, then treat their staff in this manner because they know they can't just leave and get another job

It's a poor contract that doesn't include paid bank holidays for long-term staff.

Seems that companies can get away with murder these days
