a rescue story(sorry long story)

just added to a thread about nearly getting a staffie rescue dog
it all came about when the big man sadly was pts
coming into a empty house was heartbreaking
but instead of a pup i thought why not give a rescue a home
my mate here told me of a council run rescue so off we went
omg it was heart breaking
ad never been in one before (i knew wot ad be like)
anyway we went in and there were loads of dogs all barking and jumping at their cages (pick me pick me)
gorgeous german shepherds and loads of other real big dogs
there was one (dunno wot breed it was ) but it was actually putting on a show am telling ya every time we passed it was sitting sideways ...looking up at us ..as if to say look am the best here pick me
next to it was a staffie
very forlorn very quiet and the biggest scab on it's head
never barked never done nothing just looked at us with big brown eyes and a started to cry
it was the most pityful thing ad ever seen
my mate said come on their's more round here so off a went but kept going back to the staffie and everytime there she/he was sitting just staring at me
al the other dogs were far to big for me to take (ie gs and breeds a was'nt used to so did'nt know temperement)
anyhow back a went to the staffie ..still there at it's cage just staring at me )
that's it a thort am taking her/him
went to the person at the door and enquired what had happened to the staffie
they said all they knew was it came in with a big burn on it's head
ok a said could i put my name down for it
nope not possible said the person on door
it's got it's forever home their coming for dog tomorrow
still went to bed and wept for all them wonderful dogs tho
hubby cud'nt believe i had went there(cos he know's wot am like)
anyway went to another rescue site on internet they were'nt even showing anything so we ended up going to a breeder and getting keira
then one day trawling internet (as you do ) came across the most wonderful site(dunno if a can say where so a won't)
and ended up with lubo

Know exactly where you are coming from with that - I did the cat and dog home in edinburgh - so depressing and I came out crying my eyes out.

We did specfically want a staffie though and ended up at tracie: staffie rescue - I had all these things that I wanted from our staffie - she emailed me a pic of bruno(not any of the things I had listed apart from being a boy !! ) and I was hooked !! Its just those eyes - how can you resist !

wonderful story although sad - but thanks for sharing it.
