Wine

Do you have to keep bottles of either sparkling wine or Champagne standing up or can you lay them down?

Depends on what's been used to close the bottle. If it is cork, the wine should be in contact with the cork to stop the cork from shrinking and letting air in - eg on it's side.

If it is a screw cap or synthetic closure, it can be stored upright.
