Urgent Advice Needed

It's 3am where I am and my dad's dog was uhhh licking his special place when he started bleeding from his penis all over my bed. I know this could be a sign of a serious illness and want to take him to the vet immediately, but my dad wants to wait until an acceptable hour.

My question is, should I sneak him out of the house now and take him to the vet right away? Or will it be okay for him if I wait until daylight?

I would not feel comfortable to answer that question.

I understand that. Perhaps you can answer this instead... If you were in this situation, what criteria would you use to make the decision about whether or not to wait?

If I had any doubt it would be to the vets regardless of time

Okay, that's a great answer, thank you. I'm going to drive him to the vet right now. He's not desexed (which I should have mentioned) so the possibility of prostate issues is higher

Friend suggested I call the emergency vet first, which I have. They said as long as he's not in pain or having trouble sleeping that its fine to wait until 7am when our normal vet opens. I'll let everyone know what happens when I take him.

Good luck with the vet visit - I can understand why you were so worried - but hopefully the vet will be able to diagnose the problem and get the dog the help he needs.
Please let us know what happens.

Just got back from the vet. ($380) Due to bruising and swelling on his penis, the vet has ruled that the issue is overstimulation to the area. I guess that like all boys, once it's discovered, they don't want to let it go.

Big relief that it's most likely not prostate or kidney issues! Thanks to everyone for the prompt and helpful replies. I will definitely be checking out this forum more often!
