Personally I would think there is more to the story than is being reported.

Wonder whether the dog is a repeat offender. Or whether it's anything to do with the breed.

Poor dog and poor cat

Well if it had been the first offense then I would have thought a control order would have been the way to go. But that may have already been tried.

Can not judge unless they told the whole story.

Looks like even the cat's owner didn't want him destroyed:

I think it's a breed thing... or just a dog hating thing.. but I do think there is more too it as well.

My neighbours totally understood that if their chickens got over the wall that I and the dogs could not be held accountable.. natural instinct but this was before the panelled fencing was put up and just after I saw one of their chickens flirting with my dogs on the wall - luckily it was low but too high for the dogs to get to them.. Btw - the neighbours understood.. and agreed too..

But there is definitely something else..

Reading the second story - why are the courts involved - if my dogs attacked my other neighbours cat I'd happily pay towards vet bills without the court needing to be brought in..

I'm guessing because the dogs owner refused to pay. If that's the case then I bet they wish they'd just paid the bills now!
