M&S food I can't fault! All our Xmas food comes from there!

I shop at both too - would say M&S has better quality, but Waitrose has more range (when it comes to fresh fruit and veg). M&S probably has more range in own brand pre-cooked foods tho (which I would say is tastier/nicer - as is their meat, compare their chickens for example).

Waitrose seems to be like a slightly better Sainsburys on the quality front - taste wise their veg tastes the same or very similar to the veg/fruit in Sainsburys, whereas M&S veg tastes noticeably better imo.

M&S seems to have made a mistake by deciding to stock 'cheap' brands tho - wish they went down Waitrose's route and sold harder to get / organic / premium brands instead (as well as increasing their range - to match Waitrose).

Apparently M&S did a customer survey to ask them (re stocking cheaper brands) but I didn't see it and I'm an M&S card holder! lol

Lol I know - but at least they have things like Barley Couscous, Avacoda Oil, Coconut Milk (the drinking type not the tins for cooking) and lots of other things that you'd usually have to get from specialist stores.

I was shocked when I saw 'Heinz beans' in M&S

M&S rump steaks with peppercorns round the edge - about £8 for two but soooooo nice - I get them every couple of months for a treat for us.

Waitrose food and wine is superb - they now regularly have offers too.
