NickyAnn you seem to be confusing your breeds? A Staffordshire Bull Terrier is NOT a Pit Bull. An English Bull Terrier is NOT a Pit Bull.

Staffies are nicknamed "the Nanny dog" because they look after children.

Any dog is capable of doing harm, yet certain breeds seem to be jumped on and negative and unfounded statements tend to escalate, which is then detrimental to the welfare of the breed. Many of the the bull terrier breeds (including Pit Bulls) are lovely family pets, they have good owners who have socialised and worked with the dog to ensure the welfare of the dog and those around it. Sadly not all owners are that good. I strongly believe that most of these type of incident stem from the dogs treatment by humans and I maintain that there is no such thing as a bad dog (or breed). Just bad breeders and owners, sometimes who do not know better.

NickyAnn please be careful with unsubstantiated or thought out statements. On here we can help raise awareness of good dog treatment and welfare, but emotive and incorrect statements help no one.

Really well Diesel has been around kids and pups his whole life and has never put a foot wrong. He has even recalled to me with another dog hanging off his cheek. He is well trained and socialised cos you ain't the only one who can train a dog, our methods differ but mine work just fine. If you search You can find stories on just about any breed that has killed a kid, an adult or another dog. That does not make it typical of the breed.
You I think just like to abuse other owners and their dogs because you somehow think you're better, mind it don't bite you in the ar$e.

Seriously your dog looks very happy running back and forth in your back yard.
No really? The funerals weren't fake? If pit bulls were exterminated it would be other breeds that attacked. The number of fatal attacks has not gone up with more pit bull ownership (and there are MILLIONS in the USA). That's like saying if we got rid of all Nissan 350Zs (the top "deadliest" car) then we would no longer have car accidents.

And you really should learn a bit of history. I really suggest reading The Pit Bull Placebo by Karen Delise. Especially when she talks about the truth about media reports (e.g. the story about the two "family dogs" who attacked a couple people and it turned out they were kept in the basement of a home no one lived in anymore, neglected, and starved...they euthanized them and found the only thing in their stomachs was some rubberbands and rat poison, or the one where they reported two pit bulls killed a woman in an elevator and it turned out the dogs were Cane Corsos).

A well-trained and well-loved pit bull is no more likely to attack a human than any other breed of dogs. In fact, they're probably LESS likely to attack a person than some other dog breeds. The very tiny percentage of dogs you hear about are anomalies (which is why they're news; no one cares about the millions of flights a year in which nothing goes wrong, but you can bet they care about the tiny percentage of plane crashes). And many have been abused, neglected, tied out, and/or left to roam. Some are abused by horrible people in order to make them "mean." Pit bulls are not the problem. PEOPLE are. In places where they are banned, they're finding just as many dog bites and fatalities. And people are moving to using larger and more powerful breeds as "guard dogs" (Rottweilers, mastiffs, etc.), some breeds that were considered the "super predator" of dogs in the past even (Rottweilers, German Shepherds, whose name in the USA was changed to get away from the "evil" Alsatian view, Dobermans).

The dog in this story is an anomaly and I suspect there was some sort of abuse or something with the owner as the owner did NOTHING to stop it. If she was even there. So clearly there is SOMETHING wrong there and it probably starts with the human (who I hope gets charged in this for more than just having a dog out of control).

And still, as others have pointed out, Staffies are not Pit Bulls, but even so your statements about pit bulls show an astounding ignorance.

Are you accusing these news outlets of running unsubstantiated fatality reports of people killed by bull terriers?

Yes. Because they do not know a thing about breeds and that dogs bite .org site is notoriously biased. If you're citing that then you really do know nothing. Or are you one of their little minions that they send out to talk about the "horrors" of pit bulls. You sure sound like them.

Now you are just trying to argue, and seem to be in denial. In Germany you would not even be able to own a bull terrier because they have no value and because they freak out and kill children and other dogs. The Pit Bull terrier (terror) is also illegal to own in the UK as well, as they recognize the danger to the public and to other dogs as well.

Politicians are stupid. That is why they are illegal. Because they think it's a quick fix instead of addressing the real issue.

So you are going to ignore the dogs that have killed children.

Nice move, demonstrates care and compassion for those around you.
