Doesn't he live in Derbyshire? We've seen him there a couple
of times.
The dogs are retired to people who know them if the'owner' can't keep them. If no one close takes them they should be offered back to the puppy walker, if not they go to someone on the waiting list.
A staff member had his last one I think,
really lovely dog who my son played with when I was at puppy class.

It's sad when the dogs are retired elsewhere. All
my pups ( except the last
one) went to people who keep their retired dogs. I am
Pleased at that....although I would
love to get that call

I've seen Sadie with him on TV several times, always thought she looked more intelligent than he did but to be fair to him Sadie also looked well treated and contented and it surprised me that he was handing her over to another family, sadly I think that shows just how little he really understands about dogs, let us hope that her new life will happy and there will be no more changes from now on, and as for Mr. Blunkett, well a politician will always be on the move just to keep their seat in parliament, they have no long term loyalty to anything, it's one of the qualifications for the job

Who owns the dog? The blind person or the Association?

If the Association, I guess they have the final say and will fund the dog's care?

If Blunkett - I'm genuinely surprised if he could not look after Sadie 'after hours' and afford to employ someone to take care of Sadie when he is not there. I'd find it so hard to part with a dog after nine years, especially a companion dog.

Ummmm. On qualifying the blind person pays a tiny amou
t for the dog so...
BUT the dog can never be sold on, has to be returned to Guide Dogs.
Guide dogs do not pay out for retired dogs that are adopted by the public and the adoption fees are pretty steep these days.
