irish setter question

Wasn't sure where to put this Just a little question.

I read that an Irish Setters coat goes fluffy and wooly if they are speyed or neutered. Is this true or just a myth?
I am not getting a setter I am just curious.

Thanks.

"In some breeds it is possible, but not inevitable, that spaying will cause a change in the growth and texture of the coat. This may look unattractive and make grooming more difficult. This side-effect is not generally associated with short-haired, smooth-coated breeds." (quote from: http://www.dogweb.co.uk/talkdogs/neu...ion_12202.html)

I only know from my boyfriends 2nd Mum and he calls her setter who's coat did go dry and fluffy once she was nutered. This is only one dog so its could have been a one chance. Her fur was like a conker so shiny and glossy and now it just isn't.

Hi BrandieSnap, yes it is true that Irish Setter coats are liable to deteriorate into an unmanagable woolly mess once the dog or bitch is neutered.
