You most certainly CAN overload a pup with training. Yes, training should be an ongoing thing, everyday brings new opportunities for learning. But, if it is repeateated too often in a short period, if it is not done in short sessions and made great fun, it is only too easy to 'sour' the pup.

Shadowboxer, I think that we are not that stupid that we would drill the puppy endlessly. I train Tamino for about 15 minutes a day all together, 2 minutes here, a minute there, sit for this toy. It adds up. I never train 15 minutes at a time!

What I thought Barbara was asking was relating to commands not the amount of amount of training. I know that my puppy would tell me if he was getting bored or tired and I always lay off then and have a game.

I would imagine that these forums have a lot of unregistered guests. My post was a caveat to those who do not have the same level of experience & commonsense as the contributors.

I have seen a couple of pups almost ruined by over-enthusiastic training.

I only train five minutes at a time and if Savannah is not in the mood, we end sooner. My question was mainly asking if teaching too many commands at a certain age was no good.
