Even Boxing Day doesn't have religious connotations does it?
No most are workers holidays from when workers had no rights to holidays. Now we have holiday entitlements and bank holidays too. Quite enough days off I would think especially for those lucky enough not to have the bank holidays taken from their holiday entitlements so they get nearly 30 days off each year.

I hate bank holidays when all civilisation grinds to a halt and would not like to see any more of them thank you

Most of my working life I had jobs where I had to work on some bank holidays without extra pay.

I don't like the US imports like Fathers day either and I would say halloween too, get rid of them .

Mothers day is slightly different being an old tradition where people had a break in the middle of lent to go home to see and take wild flowers to their mothers .

No more 'excuse to send a meaningless bit of card ' days for this old grumpy person please

Having fought our way around Sainsburys with all the assistants dressed as witches, ghosts or vampires we decided that next year we are going to start the fashion/tradition of celebrating All Saints day. We are going to dress in angel costumes with halos and wings.
Wonder if it will catch on

Nippy - it's already being suggested.

Nah I won't vote for that - sounds too nationalistic!
