Parent manipulation

Mothers - who'd have them

On her 89th birthday (today) mine announced she was going to paint the doorsteps. Hmm says i - she says this sort of thing. Five minutes later, she ambles past plastic bag in hand & i realise she means it! Fair enough only she has cataracts tbat need surgery & admits she can see little. I get a running commentary & remember i have to paint the new skirting board in the bathroom. Mother happily hands over paintbrush & pot. Paint the said skirting board, look critically at the door frame & do that. Repaint the door steps. Decide the hall panels need touched up, do them. Decide the livjng room door frame could do with a touch up.

Brother & nephew arrive & despite warnings get covered in
paint from hall panels. Walking out into back cast critical eye
over back door frame, cant leave it, get totally absorbed.
Two kittens arrive, one (male of course) takes a look & takes
himself off, the other sits & watches - not sure if she was
casting a critical eye or not at my efforts. Dogs just keep out of the way - wise creatures!

Now wouldn't the kitchen cupboards look nice touched up - you get the idea, i cant put the dang brush down!

Well, they do say mothers know their children best .......
