Rosie is a people dog . People of all sizes.

She instinctively knows when to be gentle and when it's allowed to be fussy. Because I have grandchildren, she was socialised thoroughly to babies and small children from 7 weeks up and it's paid off big-time.

Because she is so small and cute, she gets a lot of attention so she's well used to being hugged and cuddled.

Max isn't by any means small. Now about 38kg. But he is also a people dog. He just sits, maybe gives a paw, and is also ever so gentle with children too.

But, and there has to be a but.....some people fear dogs. Somehow my dog senses that and we just stroll on..

The only people Rosie rushes to get away from is drunks and those off their heads on drugs. She'd probably have made a great scent dog but instead of going to a person and sitting to indicate they have drink or drugs, she would run in the opposite direction .

Dogs instinctively know when something isn't right and they sense the kind of 'not rightness' that is. For example, there are quite a few handicapped and ill people who love to fuss her when we are in town and Rosie is oh so tolerant and gentle with them - making them feel special in only a way that a dog can- but the bad guys? It's hey mum, run!!
