We have had this same internet for many, many years now. Pretty much back when DSL/Broadband came out so you know ours is dirt slow. It's only basic broadband, and though our ISP does offer Fiber Optic now, we won't be getting it.

I'm with sky fibre free for a year because I gave them such an ear bashing as I already had sky but the connection was constantly unavailable. So after much argueing was given fibre for free no costs at all, was promised 30mbs but told realisticly to expect 28.5 mbs. We've never had more than 19mbs and yesterday was down to 1.5mbs. It's better than bog standard sky but ain't what was promised so luckily for them it's free. We're wireless. I can't go to virgin as for some bizarre reason they say I have an outstanding balance of £120 when I've never had an account with them. They can't say when it's from except it was prior to Virgin taking over cable. So I'm stuffed, either pay 120quid or go without.

Thanks everyone - nice to see everyone so far is on broadband, no dial up users

Hello Tumbleweed - hope you're ok

Annie - thanks! Hopefully I'll get a good wireless speed too

Trouble - I have cancelled it with sky and ordered from plus.net - same price but double the speed!

We are with Virgin Media.. they are usually pretty good, they will give compensation if you're having continued trouble with the connection.

I'm with Sky and don't know if this is good or bad, but it's pretty fast compared to what we were used to here

We recently had a nightmare over a period of 3 weeks, which they said was down to BT openworld doing some work, since when, for us it's been mega fast and no problems either.

Janie - that is an excellent speed. Are you connected wirelessly?

Helena, that is pretty slow... you might benefit from fibre if it comes to your area.

Trouble - that's what was happening with ours, some days better than others. The plus.net router came today - wasn't expecting it so soon!
