There is quite a few things thats good about the UK, but imo they are a few steps from being world class.
The NHS, not many country offer free health care and if you do need urgent treatment more offten than not you will get it, but it could be improved if the vast budget they recive was better managed.

The Police, They are well trained and do keep the streets to a degree and the majority are polite and helpful, but they could be improved if they were able to spend less time on paperwork and as touch upon in the other thread the use of officer were better spent.

The Armed Forces, We imo without a doubt have the best armed forces anywhere on the planet, they are well trained, well drilled and deal with the public in other countrys in a decent manner. Improvements, we need to look at the way they are treated when they leave the army.

There is a lot more but I will just but them three as its a large post already.

There must be Something good about the UK- Im Canadian but have lived here for 32 years
Things I like - scenery- a lot of variety in a small island, the climate- its temperate compared to Canada, you can get to just about anywhere in a few hours drive, tons of fantastic beaches on my doorstep
oh- and I found my soulmate here-my Beautiful dog
- things I don't like-won't go there as Id rather focus on the positive
-

Cath

There's plenty of people that choose to come over here and live every day, there must be something good about this country

I originally came to the UK because I married a Yorkshireman back in Canada- then he came back over here and brought me with him. We split up in 1978. I made the choice to stay here -I enjoy my job and my life. I will likely not stay here after I retire as I have no family here but for now I think its an ok place to live. Most of my UK native friends moan on all the time about how much they hate it here now. I guess if you haven't lived anywhere else you have nothing to compare it to.

I was going to put the benefit system but chose against it, while I think its great that we can get help when needed, the process takes to long and its to easily fraurded.
