Advice on Pond Fish, Please.

Is this the time of year for pond fish to spawn (is that the right term? You know have puppy fish )
We noticed one of our fish was very fat at the weekend. Then it lay in the basket with the reeds. Then the other one layed with it.
Next day it was slim.
Is it possibe that it layed eggs?

I've just read back through this and I hope it makes sense to you, it doesn't to me

Well last year we had 28, and they didn't....instead the window men killed them We had new windows in and although they covered the pond, there must of been piece of glass go through the butol, as it leaked the next day, I had to get them all out and redo...I think the shock was too much for them Hopefully this time all will be well as she definately looks like she has laid more and our male seems very '''jolly'''
