we have come across a couple of people who have said they think dals are mean, we pointed out we are on our 2nd and 3rd and have had no probems with any of them, we wondered if they thought they were mean because they didn't realise that dals smile and thought that they were snarling, one of mine doesn't grin but the other does but only in the house and then gets embarrassed and picks something up with her mouth so we can't see her smile, we have thought that to someone who didn't know better it could look like she was snarling.....

My cousin used to have a dally and it had to get pts as it was very aggressive to everyone and everything...the vet seemed to think that it had something phsycological wrong with it as it was so unpredictable

ive never heard that... jake met his first dalmation in the park yesterday. was so cute, she was HUGE compared to him but he didnt care and the two of them were charging around the park chasing each other playing. her owner was worried she would accidently hurt him as he is a puppy but penny was gentle with him lol. i love seeing him with other dogs lol

Back in the oh, 80's 90's, in the US, Dallies got a bad rep, due to their raging popularity and consequences of over breeding and poor breeding to meet the demand. Back yard breeders ruined the dally temperment, and they were mean natured little snakes. Consciencious Dalmatian breeds in the past 15 years have made great strides in bringing this breed back from the brink. I haven't come across a mean one in many years. Generally very sweet now.

I've only ever met three - stunning dogs but all have been dog agressive - there is one at the moment who I keep trying not to bump into as it has lashed out at my dogs and then the other day went for and bit Missy and Narla due to the pr**k of an owner.

It's not the breed of dog it's the owners. I wouldn't say they are mean. I don't tbh know alot about the breed so wouldn't like to say about their training needs but possibly just like the Staffie, Rottie etc need a firm hand and to be very well socialised? (but then don't all dogs)..........

Anyhow I wouldn't say that the Dalmation's are mean at all - it's like all dogs it's not them it's the bloody owners!

Never heard that one, we have come across alot in our time ie walking, all I have noticed is they can be ''live wires'', have met a few were the owner has said, ''cann't let him/her off lead as him/her would knock everyone over etc., but never because they are ''mean''
