Yes Kodi is doing well, although, in the words of his trainer, he is "arrogant", in other words he wants do to what he likes and not what he is told and he still cant swim !!
Hows Rhodi doing?
Rhodi's doing good, thanks. He had a couple of bouts of bad tummy, both of his own doing,i think. One was after swallowing a piece of plastic from the curtains...That made him really poorly. I had to have Three days off work, bless his little heart. The second time, i believe he found and swallowed part of a cooked Lamb bone, which he found in the field. So i have had to cut most of his extra's, and just feed him soaked kibble and some sardines in tomato sauce, and boiled or poached egg at weekends. Other wise he is an absolute pleasure. He is becoming a proper little star and i am so proud of him. These months are so important to get things right...If we get to 2 1/2 years without any major problem, we can start to relax. Thats when the Boy's are normally at "where they're gonna be!"
Glad your both well....Enjoy!

Hi Helena
I know, its embarrassing spent days at the beach, he paddles, plays and then comes out. So we found a nice deep rock pool, threw his ball in and said fetch. He soon realised he was out of his depth, came back to the edge and used his paws to make little waves thus drawing the ball back to himself. Very clever but he is missing the point eh? Might get him some water wings next

Lol, they're so smart aren't they! I used the rope on the ball to get Zena actually swimming, but very slowly and as soon as she swam, I would turn her around and bring her back to where she could touch the sand. It took a while, but as soon as she realised she was swimming, that was it, she wouldn't leave the beach, she wanted to go in again and swim out for her ball.

Then I made a big fatal error I got down onto the beach soon after, tide was perfect, just to the stones, and I chucked the ball out. She dived in and swam out, BUT, of course, when they go to grab said ball, they don't realise the surface isn't solid (well, I don't think they do!), so she obviously gulped loads of water in the process, and swam back choking to death. She was in a real bad way when she got onto the sand, I'm lucky she's still here really So I never, ever chuck her ball into deep water now, I just pull her out with the rope and slowly, she's getting over the panic of remembering what happened, and of course, if she's got the ball in her mouth, then she can't gulp in water with me holding onto the rope.

She still charges in and out of water, just that she's not too keen on the swimming part now, which is sad, so I don't want the same thing to happen to your Kodi, so remember to take it all very slowly when you introduce him to his swimming

Tell me about it, i have lurched from tummy problems, fleas, tics, runny eyes, gammy ears .... it goes on. I have managed to fix most of these problems myself, without going to the vet. For tummy troubles i use greek style yoghurt, laced with honey, scrambled egg, mash potatoes and best of all Libbys pumpkin pie filling, again with honey. He loves it.

I had been treating him with Frontline all year but he still got fleas from the forest and deer tics from the West coast of Scotland, so switched to Advantage a couple of months ago which seems to be working well.

For his runny eye i gave him a spoonful a day of Apple Cider vinegar. Works a treat.
For his ear i had to go to the Vets for some anti-biotic ear liquid.
Touch wood, he is now fit as a fiddle and has no ailments.
Keep in touch.

Hi Apache. Guesss what, Rhodi had his first ear problem this weekend. The vet gave him two injections and some anti inflamatary tablets. It seems to have stopped it getting any worse. For bad tummy i use Pro-kolin, half price on line. I love the sound of your recipe... Does it work instantly 'ish? For poorly eyes i use adrops from the chemist. I cant remember the name, but they are the only drops that they keep in the fridge! Don't say they are for the Dog though. I was advised to feed him Apple cider vinegar daily, with his meals, which i do. I was also advised to use Manuka Honey, to help prevent HD, amongst many other things. I am still trying to find some at a reasonable price.
Here's to Two healthy Doggies! Hugs for Kodi.
Ps. Why don't you give Kodi a session in you local Dog Hydrotherapy pool. They will use a life jacket, if they think he needs it. You only have to go once.....But i bet you go more than that. Rhodi absolutely Loved it.
