I'm really lucky because due to the position of the house and the size of the rooms (old Victorian house) my house, especially the living room, do not get hot. Even my Akita does not get hot so it's not a problem at all.

I have to work full time so mine are left all day. I used to come home at lunch time when they were younger but now they are quite happy to be left to sleep all day and then get all of my attention when I get home.

my windows are left open. god help anyone who was so desperate to get in and past my two.

I remember struggling to get a rescue dog because I work full time. However I remember one of the dog workers once saying, it's better to live in a house and get some attention than stay in kennels and get virtually no attention at all each day.

I guess I am quite lucky in that I work full time but my dogs come to work with me. They sleep all morning and we go out for an hour's walk at lunchtime and then they sleep until its time to go home again. Most of the time clients coming in dont even notice them asleep in their crate until they walk right past them

I have 2 dogs and work full time, i have a dog walker that comes 3 days a week around lunch time and they get a full 1 hour play, the other 2 days my dad comes round in the morning and plays with them till early afternoon. My job is fairly flexible so sometimes i am able to come home early and take them out for extra play.

I think it is fair to work full time and have a dog, so long as the owner is prepared to put in the time and effort when they are there. If noone had dogs and worked full time, less dogs would have homes. Surely its better to be in a home with people around at least part of the day and overnight, than be on their own 23 hours a day in a kennel?
When we get our puppy it will be in holiday time and when we go back to work, we will have someone coming in to be with them and let them out to toilet. They won't be crated all day and night and will have an open crate, with a dog gate and playpen blocking off half of the kitchen so they can have more space.
We will walk the dog, socialise and train as well as anyone who has a dog and it at home more. Some dogs have people at home all day, this doesn't mean they'll get the attention they need as the person might be doing other things all day. Our dog will go everywhere it can with us and it will have the best life we can provide.

Unfortunately, both my husband and I work most of the day. This is not what we would like for Wembley but we make it work. He gets a long walk before I leave for work in the morning and another when H comes home at around 3.00pm. I come home at lunchtime for almost an hour to feed him and play in the garden. We plan to get another dog next summer so they can keep each other company during the day. Currently Wembley has lots to do for himself while we are out and we worked hard in the beginning to get him into a routine for the day. He isn't distressed (the amount of times I hang around outside the house to hear if he barks ) but of course is always happy to see us when we come back. At lunchtime he has to be prized out of his bed to play and be fed For a while now we have had tradesmen tramping in and out doing various jobs and they all say he is very good at being left and has never caused any problems. They very nicely let him out for us when they go for a fag and play with him. They can't help that though, he is a bit mad

If the criteria for owning a dog was only working part time, nobody would have them in this current climate, if ever.

I work full time and my dog does just fine but I really do think it depends alot on circumstance. Boomer is fine to be left on his own and just sleeps all day. I'm home by 4pm and then he gets a good walk and play. I think the most important thing is to have a good routine. Boomer expects me home by 4pm at the latest, I make sure I'm home by then no matter what the circumstances. While he's very good natured he is overly protective of the house so i wouldn't feel safe if a dog walker visited, I need to know what my dog is doing 100% of the time!

I wouldn't consider keeping a dog if I worked longer ours than I do now though.

I consider it the lesser of two evils really, ideally, boomer would have me home all day, but ideally i wouldn't have to work at all Would I rather have boomer alone during the day or still stuck in a rescue? I have to be honest though, the sneaking feeling that he shouldn't be alone so foten is the main reason that I'm still looking for the perfect companion for him.

I work full time and have dogs. I could not afford a dog walker every day but when I get home every second is devoted to my dogs. Really it's what the owners are willing to put into the dogs.

My dogs are happy and enjoy life. I must admit though I doubt that I would ever just have one dog and work full time. Having more than one does mean that they occupy each other. Though I have to say there are occasions when I've turned up at lunchtime and you can tell that they've been asleep and the look that they've shown me at being there at a time that I shouldn't be!

On my days off, apart from when I actually take them out in the day, they just doss about all day, usually I can get them on their treadmill before going to work, and then later in the day after work, get them out for a runabout/walk/run with bike, I work full time and feel so long as the dogs get a break /good excercise then yes you can have dogs when you work full time, I also am lucky in the fact I can take my dogs into work with me, normally I take 3 and leave 2 at home and they are all perfectly happy with this set up.
