You can never replace Brownie but you can move on with a new one and give him the same love, care and attention as you did Brownie. Lots of breeds can have the double dews, border collies certainly can. My lab has the thicker fur down the back too.

Nigredo looks absolutely adorable Congratulations and everything crossed that things work out for both of you. What a handsome puppy I look forward to hearing how he gets on and seeing lots of photos.

I too wouldn't worry about the double dew claws unless it causes problems.

I apologise for bringing it up as you've said you want to put it all behind you, but I hope your Mum doesn't just desert Jade to the outbuilding with the minimum of care/love as that is no life for her.

Nigredo is a real handsome young chap. I think he will be a great step forward for you, and again, without wanting to bring up too much of the past, perhaps seeing how you raise this young'un may help your mother see you have such a drive and energy and willingness to learn and work with dogs, and that she really should consider and value your opinions with poor Jade.

We all look forward to seeing more of Nigredo though! With such a mix I am sure she will be a joy to train, and be very eager to learn all sorts of wonderful talents! xx
