does your dog dig the garden?

Hello we have got 2 Cavalier king charles spaniels. Our back Garden is well dug up by them.!! We say NO firmly but this falls on deaf ears!!! Are they lacking in something? I adore them but we do get rather cross when they both dig and create massive holes all over the lawn !! Thank-you Amanda Harrison

Yes, not only do they dig, they dig enough to totaly disapear and they are a lot bigger than a CKCS. When I still had old Fred I had to rescue him from a large hole more than once, silly s*d would go down and then not have the strengh to get back out.

Yes-mine does dig the garden, but tends to do it in borders where i can fill the holes in again and again and again...

As yours choose to use the lawn, you may want to consider buying them a sand pit so they can dig away to their hearts content.Hiding toys, treats etc regulary should keep them ammused.

Sorry, but i dont have an anwser on how to actually stop them!

It's perfectly normal for dogs to dig - normal but annoying.
Loki does it too.
Some say to get a doggie area all for themselves with a sandpit and bury things for them to dig up to save the garden.

Once did a sand pit for my dogs, they were very pleased and promptly empted it by kicking backwards onto the lawn.

That was my fear with Loki, so haven't done one yet.

Our dogs are absolutly terrible with digging! We have no plants left and a garden full of craters. They mainly dig at the edge of paths but dad took the whirly gig out of the garden and molly created a huge hole out of that . She was very proud of it! We werent too pleased tho......
