Thats exactly the whole point of Swiftys' original post, so the dog is coming to him/you, not being trained to simply come in for tit bit as the primary focus target of attention.
Swifty's original post dismissed the use of food treats during TRAINING.

What most are trying to point out, is that they are a very useful REWARD. That's not to say that play, fuss, praise etc are not also useful rewards.

A good trainer/handler doesn't dismiss what dogs find rewarding when training

I looked at the link aerolor & its an astronomy site, I did find Pluto but it said nothing about changing his/its orbit by giving food lures.

Of course not - Swifty said
"There are no records for man at this time, none, so again you are fantasizing"
I was referring to the erroneous assumption about how long man has been on this earth - not about giving food lures. The link I posted was to counter what Swifty had claimed. I will assume that you are joking or something like.
At the point of the postings the thread had been taken a little off topic.

Its supposed to be around 200,000 years for homo sapiens but whats all to often often omitted from that is that it includes the evolution from & through the neandertals, I dont know how long they estimate the modern human has been around but if they have not evolved enough to know that food treats for tricks by dogs are not a universal reinforcer for all things dog then we still must have another stage in the evolution process to come yet.

Food treats are not the only reinforcers - as the vast majority have pointed out.

They are, however, a very powerful reinforcer which, yes, we probably do need another stage in the evolution process for some to understand

"Mardi Richmond is a writer and dog enthusiast in Santa Cruz, California." A contributor to an on-line magazine does not an expert make.

I think the opening statement could have been worded differently to encourage healthy debate and knowledge sharing. A good trainer knows that you fit the methods to suit the dog -there is no one size fits all method in training dogs (or horses/children for that matter).

Unfortunately the OP has devalued her own statement by later stating that she has very successfully used food as a training method!

There is no right or wrong way to humane training - lets just keep it humane and cooperation based eh?

Dogs associate. So why shouldn't they associate training as a positive interaction whether you decide to use treats, toys or whatever? The post sounds like a statement not a discussion or a question. Either way most people will disagree because of the statement being very narrow minded in the grander scheme. In my opinion a good trainer is never done learning

Absolutely.
Positive reinforcement can be anything that increases the behaviour you want from your dog.
