Dion, Rottie X Shepherd X Collie, DOB 2008 – Ashtead, Surrey


Homing Requirements: Dion needs a sensitive family who can reassure him when meeting new people. Dion adores dogs and would be best to living with at least one other. Dion can be left and retained his housetraining despite spending 7 months recently in kennels. Not for cats.

His Story: Dion's owner died and his non-doggie partner handed him to a pound in March last year. He was a frightened boy and so was a little guarding in his kennel until he won trust usually discretely through treats. Dion came into foster initially as an only dog but then moved in as a second dog. Dion is neutered, vax'd and chipped.

Advert: Dion is a sensitive soul who has concerns meeting new people but is gentle when there is an indirect approach with treats which works wonders. Dion delights in other dog’s company, meeting all dogs and plays with them given the chance small or large. Dion is happy to be groomed and tolerates a gentle leader well. Dion is house trained, can be left and travels well in the car.

Dion is a true crossbreed with Rottie; Shepherd and Collie reported to be in his genes. He has a beautiful tri-colour coat. Dion has enjoyed settling back into a home environment and in many ways has been leaving his concerns behind. He is now looking for the opportunity to relax with a family unit ideally with a canine friend or two.

He and Chewie are getting more fond of each other and will sniff each other's mouths and lie quite close to each other. Yesterday I came in from the garden to find a dog on each sofa, fast asleep. Caught! They slinked off in unison when they realised they'd been rumbled! Today they had a great run up Boxhill with Steve and have been flat out all afternoon.






I managed to persuade him to play fetch in the garden yesterday. I had to work him into a hyped-up mood first, then we had a great time playing fetch and drop. Then Chewie came to see what all the noise was about and that stopped play. Shame. Hopefully I'll be able to get Dion in the mood to play fetch whilst on walkies sometime. He loves to play indoors, but never before outside.
