Do you use public transport with your dog?

May sound a silly question... but I can't drive and next year I want to go away for a couple of weekends and want to take the boys, the duchess will be spoilt by her grandparents Also thinking of the future when I get my Gordon or Flattie pup
Is it easy and is there any transport that won't take them? I have yet to take them on a bus, but Jamie travels well in a car

I've taken my guys away on the train and also regularly take the train to beaches etc. I've never had a problem, they are free of charge on trains and although i've never let them up on the seats i've been told by numerous conductors 'oh let them up, it's not a problem' .

In the past we've taken the bus but I find there isnt enough space really

I have taken the bus and trains with mine (they told me not to let Maddy on the seat!) and it's no bother at all really. Only I have been told a couple of times by the bus drivers that they only let 2 dogs on at a time and usually no more than one per person but it's a rare occasion I take more than one on a bus. Never took more than one on a train but been on a train with friends and their dogs and my own dog, trains seem to be a lot more tolerant.

Even Taxis round her don't let them in no more, they used to.

I go to work on the bus and take a dog with me most days. They are no problem at all and travel free. They have been on trains too, again free and no problem.

I took Isla on the bus when we walked from Whitby to Robinhoods Bay one day. It was no problem, just a bit cramped for space like someone said. There was a lovely Guide Dog (yellow lab) on the bus though, which made my day!

I've never used a train with a dog, but I've seen people on them with dogs.

Taxi's I would steer clear of as they usually refuse to take dogs because of the dog hair!

I don't do it regularly but went on the bus twice with Tonks as a youngster as part of her socialization. I have a car, so don't need to go on the bus, but thought it would be a good idea to get her used to it, just incase.
