Can you take your dog anywhere?

I was really impressed with my babies this morining when I took them down to our kickboxing session. They were so quiet and well behaved, just enjoying the fuss from all the kids and laying down quietly. I get some really surprised reactions when people realise how young they are (nine months and four months) and that Dan has only been with us for a week. Lots of people said they couldn't take their dogs anywhere like that because they would get too hyper and silly. Can your dogs go anywhere, or would you not risk it?

Yes Isla's pretty good, she'll settle down in most places. We went to the local pub for the first time last week and it was absolutely packed, but she just laid down on the floor and went to sleep, until I opened the crisps!

I think it has a lot to do with socialisation as a pup, Isla's been used to going all over from a young age - trips in the caravan, dog shows and trips into town etc. I think if you put a lot of work in during a dogs early days you reap the rewards later on.

Hi,

The only place I don't take at least one of my is shopping at Asda, Tesco etc. I know full well they'd behave for a certain amount of time but they'd tuck into all the food on the way home!

I try to make sure they're exosed to almost everythign I do purely so that if they're used to it, there's no reason to misbehave -although the first couple of times I take them to a new place I don't expect them to be perfect.

We take ours practically everywhere, but always have done, I think ours just think, ''Oh! well yet another place'' All three have been to Birmingham Town Centre and seemed to enjoy the hussle and bussle as we walked through, people asking if they can stroke them. They don't seem to bother

I think it's good for them to get used to different situations

Milo yes I can take him anywhere.
Shady I can take anywhere as long as there are no kids or other dogs or cats (unless she knows them well) and she is as good as gold.
I took Shadys to a friends house with me (first time she had been in anyone elses house) and she just walked in and laid down and chewed on a bone. In fact she was better behaved than my friends 12 yr old retriever who kept pestering for a fuss.

Yes, mine comes everywhere with me (unless I'm going somewhere I can't take a dog, ie supermarkets). I feel lucky that she takes everything in her stride and enjoys new situations even though we didn't have her from a pup and know nothing of her history. I think it's good to get them out and about in different environments if you can, I see it as just as important as her regular walks and it tires her out too.

Yes, can take Missy almost anywhere.
We don't take her to Tesco ( obviously). We are a bit shy of taking her to other people's houses who have dogs, because she can be off with some dogs, though she loves people.
So anywhere there are people, no problem

in a word NO.

He is pretty well behaved and can take him to other peoples houses etc without animals, but we dont tend to take him to pubs etc in case other dogs are there as then he would be a nightmare. But if i wanted to he would quite happily wonder round the supermarket etc with me, its just when there are other animals there that he is a nightmare.

Yup

I take pepsi everywhere with me. Sometimes if there are dogs around it take a little while for her to settle, but after about 10-15min she just lies down.
