Er well i always start with puppy training and lots of socialisation. then as they get older around 8 months i still do basic obedience and move onto putting harnesses on them. iuse a fleece lined harness from dog games that washes easy and fits over the head and clips behind the shoulders to start with and i jog with them but i only use the harnesses when we are working any other time i just use a slip lead as my dogs do not wear collars in the house or garden. I then as they get older move onto distance, more running than jogging, biking and then neck line them to one of my older dogs, and then move onto the rig its a slow, gradual process but i always walk my dogs so they have to think. whether its sitting at roadside, waiting before they gp through a gate or encouraging them to fetch or return for a fuss or a treat. i think a dogs mind especially those of the working group should be kept ticking otherwise boredom sets in and frustration can lead to aggresion or an unruly over energetic dog. thats the way i train my dogs and those that come to my training club and i find it works whether its the right way or not i dont care as long as i see happy dogs, enjoying being with their owner and wanting to do the things the owner wants to do with them then how can it be wrong?
