Rosbour - when I lived in the New Forest, my landlady's partner who left for work at 6.30 am every morning, would often find freshly killed deer by the side of the road. It would be slung in the boot, driven to work, and on return home at 8pm butchered it in the back garden. They were usually still warm and steaming. We had a freezer full of lovely venison cuts and their dogs ate well, too.

The main issue with that was the deer ticks - the car boot had to be fumigated regularly, and sometimes the smell of 'gamey' deer stayed a bit too long...
