Yoghurt makers

Does anyone have a yoghurt maker and would they recommend it as an alternative to commercial yoghurts.

I've been thinking of buying one for a while but was not sure what the 'fridge-life' of the homemade yoghurts would be.

Any comments welcome.

Thanks

I've got friends who use the Easi-Yo from Lakeland and think it's a fantastic investment. Apparantly the yoghurts last about a week in the fridge.
