£100 a day !

A dog lover must pay £100 for every day that barking from his prize-winning Alsatians annoys neighbours.

Alan Pigott, 57, was fined £1,000 for breaching a noise abatement order by JPs - who also imposed the daily charge.

Neighbours in Bowring Park, Merseyside, claim Alan's four dogs drive them mad with barking when he is out of his detached house.

Council officials monitored the noise and hit the telecoms worker with the original order reports The Sun.

Alan said: "I'm not going to pay the daily charge."

One neighbour said: "The dogs are manic. It's terrible."

I think its 100% right, you wouldnt put up with a neighbour who played loud music all day and night so why put up with somebody whos dog barks incessently? Its anti social behaviour imo and they are doing the right thing dealing with it the way in which they would any other scenarios. Of course dogs will bark from time and most neighbours will expect and put up with this from to time but there is a line and it sounds like they have crossed it.

My dogs bark when the door goes or on occasion if they see something they dont like outsiede and my neighbours dont mind, my neighbours dogs bark sometimes too and I dont mind but there has to be a bit of respect imo.

He has obviously been warned before that action would be taken but still never seeked help or allowed this to continue and therefore the consequences are a direct result of his actions as she is responsible for the dog. I am a dog lover but I can understand other peoples frustrations too.

A similar incident happened in Scotland where a Westie would have a destruction order if it didnt get help for its barking, the dog was put through some specialised training and I assume that nothing came of it as nothing more was heard. If she cared about her dogs why not get some professional advice.....did anybody see the programme a while back when a woman was evicted because of her dogs?

Not that programme Lel but I did see that too, I am just glad I dont have smelevision lol.

I just want to add that obviously we have to make allowances and have respect for our neighbours and accept that dogs will bark from time to time but I would suspect that if it has got to this stage the dogs are obviously barking more than what would be considered normal or acceptable.

Incidentally my dogs dont bark when I am out of the house, not even if the door goes but when I am at home my dogs (well just Kip) bark when the door bell goes.

I agree with you Laura

Where i lived a few years back there was a woman who had bull mastiffs in out door kennels, these poor dogs were never walked and so obviously were barking out of boredom, I did feel so sorry for the dogs, cooped up 24 hrs a day but have to admit that the constant barking drove me mad! both of my dogs bark to alert me of something, either someone at the door or if they suspect someone is approaching the house, I spoke to my neighbours about this and they all said that they hardly hear them and I worry over nothing but at least I had enough respect for them to approach them and ask if my dogs are a bother to them, as sometimes it's so easy to turn ourselves off to our own noise and what doesn't seem to bother us may well bother someone else, I think it's all about consideration for others really.
