£2000 ransom paid for puppies

http://icsouthlondon.icnetwork.co.uk...name_page.html

An elderly woman has paid a £2,000 ransom to thieves who stole her three pedigree puppies.

Tessa Gaines reported to police the theft of the two Griffin Bruxellois, called Rupert and Katie, and the Japanese Chin called Cuckoo, from her home in Kingsclere, near Basingstoke, Hants, on June 16.

But on Tuesday, a friend of the 72-year-old tracked down the thieves and paid the sum for the return of the rare puppies.

Miss Gaines, a retired agricultural worker, said that the thieves had originally demanded £5,000 for their safe return but her friend was able to reduce this to £2,000.

Miss Gaines said: "I am furious that I was put in a position where I have had to pay out to get back my own possessions

How awful! The things people will stoop to!
Although it worries me that the womans comment was how awful it has having to pay for her own 'possesions' not beloved dogs or how upset she was to lose them or how the ordeal may have effected them! Bit worrying if you ask me!

Would they have been interested if the theives had broken in and stolen £2000 worth of inanimate objects or cash from the 72-year old? Wouldn't that then spark off the media about preying on the elderly??

Perhaps not, but I just feel that the police really don't "get" the harm that dog theft causes both emotionally and in society in general...

.. I know... "rah rah rah" .... my moaning wont change anything...If only I were Prime Minister... *sigh*...

That's a bit too close to home for me too

Poor lady, I'm glad she got her pups back.
