My dogs breeder tattoos on inner thigh since ears could be cropped. It is my dogs registration nuber that he has tattooed on his leg. Though the rabbits have had tattoos in the ears.

Poppy with a tattoo? Can you imagine that? Maybe one on the shoulder with "Scruffy Mutt".

Seriously though I have heard of this, think it was on tv in one of the animal documentaries. Poppy is micro chipped but if I thought a tattoo would be an extra benefit against theft I'd get it done. But I don't think Poppy is quite in the league of highly desirable dogs. Only to me mind.

my boy has a tattoo and is on the national register. He has 'chipped and tattooed' on his harness tag. His breeder had is litter done on recommendaiton of the stud dog owner. Hes 9 now and its not very easy to read and you would have to pretty much take his ear off flush with his head to remove it (god forbid )
