Were you (before the problems) driving for a long time in fifth gear?

Do you know if yours has a hydraulic clutch? This happened to me couple of months ago and I had to have a new master cylinder put in.
Sometimes they just need bleeding. If its an ordinary clutch it may be on its way out or the cable may need tightening.
Hope its simple and easily fixed

Depends on what car its for then you have to pay to have it fitted unless you have a Friend who can do it for a reasonable price.
Fingers crossed it isn't too expensive.

If its a later model molester, then it has a hydraulic combined slave cylinder/clutch trust bearing. The fluid is also taken from the brake fluid reservoir and from near the top level.

If the fluid level has gone low then top it up with brake fluid (BRAKE FLUID NOT OIL). It is quite likely the trust bearing hydraulic unit starting to leak, it also known as a calmer unit.

Common problem and would be a gearbox out replacement, only other likely cause would be the clutch starting to break up.
