Presents for a newborn?

As you know, my S-I-L gave birth to a little girl on Saturday night.
I asked her what she would like us to get Sara for x-mas, and she said she doesn't know...but not clothes.
I've never bought anything for a baby before...so I have no idea what to get Sara for x-mas!

Any help appreciated!!

Just a suggestion, but as the babe's birthday is relatively close to Christmas, she will then go the whole year without other pressies (a subject close to my own heart as I'm the same ).

She's too young to really appreciate anything now, so why not look at baby toys etc. for age range 6-12months old - then her parents can put them away until the summer and it will hopefully even out their year a bit.

awwww how exciting!
If I were you, since the baby has been born so close to Christmas, I would think about getting a toy that the baby will grow into. It won't have a birthday until this time next year (obviously) meaning that mum and dad will have to go out and buy toys as they are needed...would be nice to have something already in from aunty Hevvur????

Or a nice book...I don't think you can go wrong with books...!
How exciting!

ok so not clothes!!

How about a little teddy, or a rattle, a mobile to go on her cot (when shes a bit bigger!) or car seat. Or vouchers for mothercare or something. She is only little so its tricky.

I love the idea of Fairy stories. I bought a complete set Beatrix Potter for my nephew.

Hi
Congratulations to all

When seem to have an influx of babies in this family lately (not me!!) I always make them up a basket
I dont spend loads just put in things that baby will need over the coming months. Wipes, bath stuff,lotion,brush/comb set just little bits & bobs plus a few bits for mum
I always get a teddy bear as well for baby & chocs for mum
