Prong or Pinch collars

i have read on many a site these collars are barbaric!!!!WRONG IMO
1.the prong collar has blunt ends so not to cut skin of your dog
2.the prong collar nips the dog when corrected not pierces
3.the prong collar is a good method of correction

based on my own opinions of course!!1lets here your comments

I did some research into them a while back as I was wondering what would be the best form of correction for dogs pulling on the leash - I think as long as they are the 'safe' type and do not hurt the dog in anyway and more importantly used correctly, then they are ok. Also, this type of training is probably more suited to the bigger or bul type breeds would you say?

i would only use them as a last resort to be honest but they are in no way cruel, i paid the money and went to a behaviourist, on learning how to use them £75 for an hour(mmmm, might take that up as my next job good money...lol) i personally would think they would be useless unless known how to use, my dog just want ed to get to other dogs and no amount of correction would stop him although in general he is very obedient when no other dogs about....i know others have differ ideas and would like to hear them..its good to hear both sides of an argument..imo

Can I ask silly questions firstly what does IMO mean I have seen it a few times and whats a prong collar ? What type of dog would you use it on?

Prong collars are collars with prongs like blunt nails on the inside and Pinch collars are I think much the same but the prongs are arranged in such away that they move together as the collar tightens.

IMO there are far better ways to train a dog that this - but as I have never used one I guess I have no right to have an opinion.
