Too good a recall????

Okay today in park off lead Sal and I playing ball when a Xbreed black dog similar size to Sal appeared out of nowhere and ran up to Sal then turned and ran away..towards his owner..Sal gave chase the chase appeared to be fun and friednly but leading toward the road so I called Sal back she turned faster than I have ever seen her (when playing with another dog) and charged back to me..with the other dog trailing behind. As she approachs me NORMALLY she veres off runs round behind me then back, not today she ran straight for me and crashed me to the ground then preceeded to lick me. I am not hurt but why this sudden change of recall behaviour...anyone would think I had been out of sight for about 10 hours instead of 10 seconds.

If nothing else at least it proves she does come back

You can never have too good a recall

Star did that once, came back first time, straight away. I could not believe it.

Theres nothing worse they wind you they are that big. Sal must be like Star does not look much but if you get hit by them its another matter.

In fact sometimes Carole, I wonder why there are not more "HIT & RUN" victims in the park. You know owners knocked down innocently crossing the path of " unguided missile dogs" :smt043

Star did that to my son at the beach, ran into him and knocked him into the water face first.

Oh well thought I just comment here even if I have heard the story else where.

Hope you're better today

Did you shriek/squawk in an unusual tone of voice? If so she probably came tearing back to find out what was wrong

Jasper has walways done that. Run straight at my legs and won't stop. It's like he's using me as a buffer to stop. If he seems to be comming at me a bit too fast, I raise my hand and say 'sit' and he will, well, sort of but he tends to try to keep running aswell as sit really funny to watch

Tam on the other hand I never let off as I haven't got recall with her but my hubby has. The only time I let her off is in an enclosed park and if I have Tam & Jas on a double lead because I know that Jas will encourage her back to me if she doesn't want to come willingly.
