Is there anything I could do to cut down on the shedding ?

Hi everyone.

I was hoping that you could give me some advice on shedding. It is very hot here right now so maybe that has something to do with it but my dogs are shedding excessively. Sweeping up to 6 times a day to keep the tiles clean and vacuuming 4-5 for the carpets. I was under the impression that Cane Corsi were very low shedders. This is driving me crazy!! They did not shed this much when we were in California even though the summer was hot too.

Is there anything I could do to cut down on the shedding (I brush them 2x a day and bathe 2x per month).

Thank you.
Karen

Bathing once a week would help. The more hair you wash out the less hits the floor. Mine shed too. I have a white kitchen floor and it gets speckled with black hair If you don't wash once a week, give a good spray with the hose, and brush at the same time. It helps.

Luna a labrador is also shedding like crazy these days. She went in the shower yesterday and wow the amounts of hair!!!!
But she shedded just as must while I dried her of and I brushed her before (and vacuumed her - she likes that fortunately ) during and after.

Barbara when you say bathing once a week is that with or without shampoo?

Corsi are terrible for shedding. :smt017 I bought a rubber Curry Comb for dogs and it works great, pulls all the dead hair out and makes the coat gleam.

How are the corsi's coat compared to a labrador? Luna is shedding like a maniac and the brush I have don't seem to do any good

Zoi has very short outer fur and it lies flatter to the skin compared to my friend's Lab.

Bellaluna, I would say without Shampoo unless you're using something mild like baby shampoo. If the dog still smells fresh and it's just to get the excess shedding off, no shampoo. If the dogs needs freshening, baby shampoo is mild enough to use regularly. With a good quality flea and tick shampoo (this is not based on price, the priciest I've found to be the lowest quality), my dogs smell fresh for close to a month, and they roll in dirt...

Thanx Bon

Barbara:

Okay I try showering withput shampoo. Luna doesn't really like showering. She doesn't mind rain or puddles but as soon as I'm taking her out to the shower she is soooo tiny and looks like Goofy

Can I teach her to like this?
