Lucky, male Red Fell Terrier, DOB 23.07.07 – Gatwick, West Sussex

Lucky, Red Fell Terrier, DOB 23.07.07 – Gatwick, West Sussex

Homing Requirements: Lucky needs a terrier family who are sensitive to working in with a terrier and able to read Lucky's body language and need for space. Lucky is approachable, tactile and enjoys being fussed but his body will tense when overwhelmed and he needs to be left or he can nip. Lucky's owners have to protect him from a 'gushing' public who want to 'pet or crowd' him. Only pet status. Not for children (live-in, visiting or public). Needs retention on an extender lead, exit management and a secure garden as for all terriers. Lucky’s potential family must live close enough as initially Lucky would need a month's trial to settle in with Lucky and read his body language.

His Story: Lucky came out of his home living with teenagers on his 5th birthday as he had nipped the mother-in-law drawing blood. Lucky was saved by the vet who saw no 'edge' and approached us via a local rescue to save him. We have had Lucky in our rescue for over a year. Yes he can get tense with certain people and can give a little growl to show his nerves and this needs to be heeded. Neutered, vax'd and chipped. Lucky is kennelled near Gatwick, West Sussex.

Advert: Lucky is a darling Terrier. He is a versatile lad, aloof by nature. He can venture into affection but has a nervous edge to him and if he tenses then it is getting too much for him and best to change subject. Lucky meets other dogs but will shy away. He welcomes respectful approaches and listens to the voice, responding well to reassuring tones. Lucky delights in play with balls. He will need time to settle in a new environment. Lucky needs a quiet environment and enjoys his own company, so can be left. He remains behind a child gate if placed there and sleeps in the kitchen by himself happily.

Lucky is a 6 year old red wire coated Fell Terrier. He has a calm energy, adores company and loves his walks. Lucky needs an aware Terrier home and will delight, providing his terrierness is respected and not too much is expected of him in terms of commands and socialisation. Lucky loves water and toys. Lucky needs to become lucky!

Please note that this dog is currently in boarding kennels and is also available for foster until a 'forever' home is found.

Lucky wasn't on the list for photographs on Saturday, but my father has always held a torch for this boy and we just couldn't let the opportunity to photograph him again go. So when he just happened to walk by on the way out for a walk we nabbed him! There were quite a few to choose from and neither of us could choose so we leave it to you to pick your favourites. Over 18 months in kennels and long overdue either a foster place or his forever home. Hope 2014 is your year boy - we both think you are a wonderful little boy!

If you are able to offer this kennel dog a foster place whether short or long term, please complete our foster questionnaire.

Lucky is still available for adoption – if you are interested in offering Lucky a home please complete our homing questionnaire.
