Plain yogurt for dogs?

I just gave Penelope some, I had heard that completely natural plain yogurt; no sugar or flavouring was good for them.

She loved it, but then promptly began to make strange wheezing, coughing type noises for a minute or so.
She seems fine now.....

Anyone else experienced this?
Feeding her can be a bit of a challenge, she seems to exhibit allergy symptoms to conventional dog food and most red meat but seems okay with a little chicken or ham and her vegetarian, hypoallergenic kibble.

I give mine the occasional dollop of live yogurt - I sometimes get goats yogurt which I think might be suit some dogs better, though mine are fine with the ordinary stuff.

Does sound as if she had a bit of a reaction to a dairy product.

I have given my dog bio yoghurt with no ill effect whatsoever. In fact vets recommend it for dogs with tummy probs.

I would hold off giving her any more if she had the reaction immediately after eating it.

Possibly just a reverse sneezing episode which incidentally cooincided with giving her yoghurt.

If you u tube reverse sneezing you'll be able to see what it looks likes.

Well, I watched the videos and it is very similar but I'm not quite convinced.
The reaction Penelope had was more like she was struggling to breathe and gagging/ coughing rather than a loud, snoring type noise.
Maybe I'll try her again tomorrow and see if it happens again?

It's supposed to be fine for them. Brownie, my previous dog didn't like the stuff at all.

I hate plain yogurt and don't see a good reason to buy it only for my dogs... for it to spoil in the fridge.

I get them dog treats, which they can have and are guaranteed not to spoil or take up fridge space. They are also easier to give, as yogurt with dogs can get a bit sloppy.
