Wainwrights and pasta

My wife feeds our dog,who weighs in at 4 stone and is a 5 years old Bulldog/staffie mix the following food.

Breakfast boiled pasta twirls and a 150g's of Wainwrights kibble.

The dog devours the meal in pretty quick time and this meal was reccomended by a vet.

Since feeding the dog this type of food, his coat has become more glossy and smooth to touch and at the business end everything is firm and solid.

We simply added the Wainwrights, as the vet never mentioned this.

So my question really is would you feed this to your dog and can anything else be mentioned that might improve his health.

Thank you

I would not feed pasta myself as it is made from wheat.

However I see no point in adding pasta to a complete kibble.

Presumably you are feeding a complete food because it is just that, complete.

I am not sure why a vet would recommend feeding pasta on top of a complete food?

That said, if it suits your dog and he is healthy and happy who am I to argue!

You could alternate the pasta with raw tripe which is excellent for dogs and they love it, just watch his weight as it's body building

It contains gluten and many dogs are gluten intolerant.

There is no proven need for carbohydrates in a dog's diet.
