Even better news for Kai. He needs surgery to to his eyelids, which are curled under meaning his eyelashes touch his eyeballs, but a JustGiving page was set up by the Scottish SPCA after many people asked how they could donate to the charity and it has raised more than Ł1,000 since going live on Wednesday afternoon.

Any funds raised above what is required to care for Kai will be used to look after other sick, injured and abandoned animals in need of food, shelter and care, the charity said.

The whole tale is a sorry reflection on the human race, and as for the woman who's come forward, she must be a spoon short of a full teaset

Why not ring the police or nearest rescue and explain the situation at the time?No excuse for abandoning that poor dog like that!

It all comes clear though when its come out he needs an operation on his eyes, which I suspect is that his eyelashes are ingrowing and he will go blind, thats why no one wants him or the responsibility of ensuring he gets the necessary treatment.

I think the same tawneywolf. Pei are prone to entropion which can only be corrected by surgery and if the corneas have been scratched by inturned eyelashes its possible they're ulcerated and will need antibiotic eyedrops. My Pei had severe entropion and I know how much it cost to restore her eyes to normal, and vets fees in Hungary are considerably less than in the UK. Its not only the cost its also all the time and the effort taken to care for a sick dog which some people wouldn't be prepared to make.

I'm so pleased the surgery was successful and he's going to find a decent home with people that love him
