Swans

One of the most beautiful birds. Taken on a visit to Windsor

As I love taking photos I have always wanted to take really good ones, but like many I fail badly with all the fiddling and settings on what I call 'A good camera, so I am content to use a point and shoot. If I do get some good memory photos, for me that is a happy bonus.

The swans at Windsor are posing divas and will let you get quite close because they are so used to so many visitors walking along the tow path carrying food. With the in/out zoom (that is my technical limit) I managed to get a couple of close ups whilst being at a sensible distance..

We have just acquired two youngsters on the lake in town. They've been around for a week now so we're hoping they will stay.

At Cleethorpes, there are quite a lot around the lake there. They are happy to come up very close and aren't aggressive unless they have young and then they retreat to the reeds and expect you to respect their space - which is as it should be

Lovely creatures

Thanks for the comment Chris. We have some on our local lake and with any sense you view them at a distance. Without cygnets they barely tolerate you on their path...with cygnets you don't have a chance.
