Red Squirrel

Managed to get some video of one of the squirrels today, he was getting food from the feeder and burying it.
Quality not brilliant because I took it from the house and was using the little digital camera but you get the idea

Brilliant red squirrel footage. We only have greys round here. I used to see reds as a child, but I think the greys wiped them out eventually which is really sad.

Great Het, but what was the background noise with it???? Trying to imagine all sorts here!

Can you not get some of those sunflower hearts too, and put them in something they can have easy access to,coz mine absolutely love them, so I'm sure the red ones will be the same?? Did you wedge the box open for him too, it looks like you did, I saw the empty shell falling to the ground so it was definitely getting something. Wow! How lucky you are to have those gorgeous creatures all to yourself in that lovely garden of yours. Thanks for sharing that Het, and please get some more!

Helena I wedged it open at the start but they have learnt to lift the lid now. I have got nothing done today for watching them they have been so busy and active, I suppose this is the first day i have been able to watch them properly and they are so charming and cute. He spent ages burying things but then the wood pigeons came along and it looked like they were digging up what he had buried

The noise on the film is the autofocus on the camera, because its a fair distance from the house the focus thingy (tech term ) has to work quite hard I think. I took some proper video with the video camera but its just easier to put it on the pc from the digital one. I think you could probably hear the parrots in the background as well

Another time waster for you then Het apart from Dogweb! Now you will get absolutely nothing done over the week-ends with your new little family will you!

He should get up earlier to do his burying before those woodpigeons get up!
