he said he thought it could be a cyst, but that it would get bigger anyway so i have no choice really but to have op, because if it gets bigger it means amputation, but i thought cysts could be drained , my dogs been really lethargic so cant help thinking its major, hes 4 .

You're doing the right thing. My Lacey had an operation two weeks ago, trust me I know how stressed you are. Everything will be fine, your baby will be good as new.Lots of cuddles and positive thinking!

Hi Katryn, I hope the lump turns out to be nothing serious.
I would try to stay positive until you know the outcome x

i spose whats worrying me is that, should it be cancer will that be it, or, . is it routine to also give them chemo or more tests afterwards, im trying to plan financially, as i have to pay vets then claim back on insurance, the op is costing 700 pounds, but wondering if theres a chance im going to need to need more money in which case ill plan that now and hold off on on spending on other things if that makes sense just in case.

Why not have a chat with your vet,it's likely he can put your mind at rest. You will worry yourself ill and I' m sure everything will be fine.So lucky you are insured, that's a lot of money for an op.Fingers crossed for u both!

I would be tempted to try another vet for a quote. Last time I had a dog with a cyst it cost about £25 - £30 to get it removed. Now ok, that was many years ago but even allowing for inflation I would have thought £100 -£150 unless there are complications. Maybe you could say that you are paying for the op rather than an insurance company to see what the cost would be first?
