Chewing

my son has a 4 month old Dogo which loves to chew. We have given it pigs ears, sinew twists and munchy bones which he seems to tire of. I know wood and bones are out but am hoping you folks have an idea for a serious chewer.

Anything made of tough Rubber similar to the biggest black Kong but they don't last that long with a dog determined to destroy them. My Staffie gets great pleasure from chewing and then gets fed up when he's destroyed it as that wasn't his intention. He gets through about a kong a month but I'd describe him as a recreational chewer.

When my dogs were young I used to make them large tugs from tow rope. The kind used for towing cars. If you want to make them really thick use mooring rope instead.

All you need do is to cut three equal lengths, tie a knot in one end, plait the rope and finish by tying a knot at the other end.

They're virtually indestructible and great for playing a game of tug.

At 4 months most likely your pup is still teething.
Frozen washcloths, frozen yogurt and ice cubes may help with the issue.
Something to chew and it will help numb the area that is bothering him.

My Mastiff was around 6 1/2 months before he finally lost all of his puppy teeth.
