Xmas dinner stress!

This year we were due to go to the in-laws for Xmas dinner as we've not been for a couple of years but they are having work done and as such they do not have a dining room. I jokingly said they should come to us for Xmas lunch and today it was confirmed that they have taken us up on that offer and i am now officially stressed!!

Now i consider myself a pretty competant cook in the roast department but i just find Xmas dinner is on a whole different scale to your average sunday roast chook!! Add to the mix that our oven is tiny and we struggled to fit a goose in it last year and i'm definitely stressed!!

I think i'm going for the Jamie Oliver veg trivet method and then will pull the turkey out for a bit of rest time wrapped in foil and a towel and use that time to cook the spuds and yorkshires and do steamed/boiled veg. I really can't see how i can get the turkey and the spuds in the oven.

It's also annoying that our dining table is in our kitchen as i'll have to try and really keep tidy as I go.

Anyone got any words of wisdom or advice to offer me to make the day less stressful!!

Cook the meat the day before.

Prepare all veg the day before.

Make stuffing on the day as it smells nice...

Get all puddings in fridge the day before.

I was going to say we have our turkey cold dinner hot. So turkey is cooking during the morning and then stands while everything else is done. Always worked. That way all you have to time is the potatoes, roasties, veg and gravy.

You're very brave! Would prepare as much in advance too and cook turkey on day leaving to rest(meat doesn't re-heat very well have found). Could you move your table into living room/lounge at all? Even if have juggle furniture round so don't have as much clearing up as go along stuff. Am sure you'll do a brilliant dinner for everyone and try not to stress (sorry but sending a hug x even though not much help)

As the others have said, cook the turkey earlier.

Just a thought, but for the dinner, is it possible to move your dining table into your lounge then move it back again once you've all finished eating?

Try and relax, I'm sure it will all be fine.
