A good reason to always use a harness.

If using a long line.

I was out on the fields with Ollie this morning and he was pottering around the long grass while I was at the pooh bin.

I cut across to meet him and carry on our walk and he did his usual run at me are we off then but stopped suddenly, as his long line had caught on a knobbly bit of a log.

If the line had been attached to a collar it would of jarred his neck, luckily it stopped him across his chest as he has a harness that pulls against his chest if he pulls.

He is always walked on a harness when out on pavements too he only wears his collar for his identity tags.

glad he was ok! the damage that could have been done doesn't bare thinking about! a lot of dogs i've seen on long lines have been on collars...ouch! same with tie-out stakes i think, unless only on a short lead anyway.
glad he's ok

Ollie is fine thank you. It just stops him in his tracks, but I would hate too think what it could of done had been attached to a collar.

Know what you mean -we walk Cherry on a harness too.

Once we were walking her and she had a newish pink collar which just snapped in half! Could have been dangerous if I had been walking her on a lead attached to this.

Naughty Parker slipped his collar the other day as he wanted to go and sniff someone's Jack Russell and he backed out of his collar when I tried to move him the other way. I had trimmed him and forgotten to tighten the collar now that he has a lot less fur. Fortunately they were both friendly with each other.
