just watched some youtube vids.

couldnt find the one the OP has described on this thread.
bit frustrating really, as i need to see what the OP is referring to before i can think about it.

the youtube vids made me grin, as they totally disregard this over used positive reinforcement mantra of only sticking to your commands in your training and less chat in between!

ignoring that silly mantra is exactly what i do as well!

Youtube now crashes on me whenever I enter it otherwise I could help - perhaps if Sarah could remember the thread name you could search it - or maybe ask Azz?

mishflynn chats quite a bit before and after the come command.
so that command isnt an isolated word, but part of a 'conversation'.

most positive trainers disagree with this, they always have rules like "only use the words you need otherwise you confuse your dog".

which i find an odd notion myself.

The video is on page 35 of the "Aversive trainers, a genuine question" thread in the training discussions section. For some reason my computer isn't letting me copy/paste anything. As I say I tweaked it a bit as Rupe isn't foody and wasn't overly interested but the video really helped.

I thought you meant that but wasn't entirely sure. Don't dogs tune out the words they haven't been taught anyway?
